Nick Spangler

Nick Spangler was born May 11, 1985 is an American actor, singer. Nick grew up in California and has been in community theatre from the age of 5, his first part was one of the boys in the lollipop guild in “The Wizard of OZ”. Nick continued with the help of his parents to keep playing roles in community Theatre right up to high school.

Life and Career


After graduating from Mountain View High School in 2003, Nick headed for New York and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts CAP 21 program for high school students who are going to be Seniors. CAP 21 offer The 2-Year Professional Musical Theatre Training Program trains actors to be competitive in the industry. Lots of successful actors and singers have graduated including Matthew Morrison, Lady Gaga and Nikki James and now, Nick who earned his B.F.A. from NYU.

Reality TV buffs might recognize Nick from the 13th season of the CBS reality series “The Amazing Race,” on which he and his sister won the million dollar prize. From their online Amazing Race profile – Nick and Starr could practically be twins, and consider each other best friends, even though they rarely see each other due to distance. They hope to strengthen their relationship on this adventure, but do worry that since they haven’t spent much time together in several years that they could get on one another’s nerves. After all, in high-school they were bitter enemies. Nick and Starr have both accomplished their life-long dreams. Nick performs on the New York stage in an Off-Broadway musical called The Fantasticks, while Starr was a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys for the past three seasons. After winning the million dollars Nick return to the Off Broadway’s production off The Fantasticks! and he played the young leading man Matt and was greeted well-wishers after the curtain call, including the show’s legendary composer, Tom Jones.

Nick was apart of the original cast of The Book of Mormon and joined the company in 2011 as a part of the Ensemble and understudy/played the role of Elder Price/McKinley. Nick was also apart of the original Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella which opened Feb 24, 2013 at the Broadway Theatre and understudy/ played Prince Topher in 2013. In 2012 Nick and Mary Michael Patterson played young lovers Liesl von Trapp and Rolf Gruber in Carnegie Hall’s April 24 2012 concert of The Sound of Music.

With Laura Osnes as Maria Rainer, Brooke Shields as Baroness Elsa Schräder and Tony Goldwyn as Captain von Trapp. Directed by Gary Griffin and musically directed by Rob Fisher, the concert was a benefit for the music education programs of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.

Nick will star with Tyne Daly, Harriet Harris, Sierra Boggess and David Burtka in the new Broadway Musical ” It Shoulda Have Been You” Directed by David Hyde Pierce. Opening at the Brook Atkinson Theatre April 14, 2015.

Featuring music by Barbra Anselmi and a book and lyrics by Brian Hargrove, It Shoulda Been You follows a Jewish bride as she readies to marry her Catholic boyfriend. When the bride’s ex-boyfriend shows up, the perfect wedding starts to unravel, leaving the sister of the bride to turn a tangled mess into happily ever after.

The cast will also include Lisa Howard, Edward Hibbert, Montego Glover, Chip Zien, Anne L. Nathan, Josh Grisetti, Michael X. Martin, Farah Alvin, Gina Farrell and Mitch Greenberg.

Nick Spangler is married and living in New York with his wife Monica and had there first child in 2015.
